1. Makkah: it is the most famous of its names. Allah the most high said
And he it is who has with held their hands from you and your hands from them in the midst of makkah, after he had made you victors over them. And allah is ever the all-seer of what you do.(al-fath”24)
2. Bakkah: Allah the most High said:
Verify, the first House (of worship) appointed for mankind was that at Bakkah (Makkah), full of blessing, and guidance for Al-Alamin (the mankind and jinn).[Aal Imraan:96]
3. Al-Balad (The City): Allah the most High said:
And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said: ”O my lord! Make this city (Makkah) one of peace and security, and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.[Ibraahim:35]
4. Al-Balad Al-Ameen (The City of Security): Allah the most High said:
By this city of security (Makkah ).[At –Teen:3]
5. Al-Baldah (The Town): Allah the most High said:
I (Muhammad (peace be upon him) have been commanded only to worship the Lord of his town (Makkah), Who has sanctified it and to Whom belongs everything. And I am commanded to be from among the Muslims (those who submit to Allah in Islam). [An-Naml:91]
6. Ummul Qura (The Mother of Towns ): Allah the most High said:
So that you may warn the Mother of Towns (i.e.Makkah) and all those around it. [Al-An'aam:92]
7. Maaad (The place of return): Allah the most High said:
Verily, He who has given you (O Muhammad (peace be upon him ) the Qu'ran (i.e. ordered you to act on its laws and to preach it to others ) will surely bring you back to the Ma'ad (place of return, either to Makkah or to Paradise after your death). [Al-Qasas:85]
8. Al-Masjid Al–Haraam (The Sacred Mosque ): Allah the most High said:
Certainly, you shall enter Al-Masjid Al-Haram, if Allah wills, secure, (some) having your heads shaved, and (some ) having your head hair cut short, having no fear. [Al-Fath:27]
